Getting Back to Basics - Learn to Love your Computer

Written on the 8th of March 2009 by Michelle Carr - Small Business Evolution

We Could all do with Basic Computer Training

In today's business world its hard to "do business"  without the use of a computer in some way.  The Big question is are we using our computer to its full time saving and money making potential.

Without basic computer training behind you, you could be left floundering and frustrated and not realising just what can be acheived for your business.

Most of us not familiar with the computer will often just start the computer up and struggle away, often taking twice as long to acheive our goals and more frustrated that  that “damn” computer does what it wants " and not what we expect.   You wouldn't learn to drive a car that way and neither should you expect to drive your computer that way either.

If you have invested your hard-earned money into a computer, it’s wise to know how to work it and to find the things you can use or create or to maximise its capabilities.

Many organisations offer basic computer training courses in classroom settings that can be quite useful if you don’t know where to start.  The powerhouse has shortcuts and tips on basic computer programs like excel and word.  Small Business Evolution also offer a flexible computer basics course either a self taught model or consultant based teaching.

Each style of training will suit each person differently and has it's advantages and disadvantages and really only you can decide what you are most comfortable with.

The most important thing to remember is from any training session you will gain knowledge and generally pick up at least one thing you didn’t know…..maybe that one thing will save you a couple of minutes a day, or potentially a couple of hours a month. Either way, knowing how your computer works allows you to gain the control.

Remember you have to start somewhere and the beginning is usually the best place!
